When we speak of the six days of creation, we are referring to literal 24-hour days. Why exactly 24 hours?

• Because His words are eternal (God does not change the laws He established).
• When He says “day,” it means 24 hours, because God set all celestial bodies in the solar system in motion.
• The Sun is positioned to illuminate the planet during the day, enabling photosynthesis and other vital processes, while providing us with both physical and temporal orientation.
• The Moon serves to ensure it is not pitch black outside at night, while preventing the Sun from being too intense, thus naturally signaling to our bodies that it is time for sleep. Therefore, the Moon shines just enough not to wake us, yet enough so that we can see a hand in front of our face at night.
• The perfect alignment of the Sun and Moon during an eclipse, across a space measured in millions of kilometers, is a statistically impossible coincidence.
• Furthermore, the Sun is exactly 400 times farther from the Earth than the Moon. Since the Sun is also exactly 400 times larger than the Moon, these two factors cancel each other out perfectly. That is why both bodies look exactly the same size to us from Earth, which enables the perfect eclipse we mentioned.
• Of course, an atheist will say, “But if there are billions of celestial bodies, it is quite logical that there is at least one, if not more planets, where conditions for life exist.”
• However, we have so far only mentioned the position of the Sun and Moon for the normal functioning of living beings.
• Fundamental physical constants (such as gravity, the electromagnetic force, and the strong nuclear force coupling constant) are tuned with unimaginable precision. Even a minimal change in any of these values would make the universe hostile to life, which points to intelligent design, not mere probability.
• Consequently, if we conclude that God is not contradictory, based on religious texts (monotheistic religions) and the laws of physics and mathematics that always apply (like 1+1=2 always and forever), it makes no sense that God would allow a “day” at the beginning of the Bible to last for a thousand/billion years, and then have a day last 24 hours just a few chapters later.

The Harmony of Nature Infused with Biblical Symbolism

The Creator’s design is visible in our everyday experience as well. Observe how nature changes through the seasons:

In summer, when the days are longer (without weather conditions that would hinder our work), nights last about 8,9 hours. Just the amount of time that science has proven a human needs to regenerate.

In winter, when temperatures drop, the Creator used an astronomical change - the lengthening of the night - to create conditions that make it easier for us to transition into a state of rest. This extended darkness is not just an absence of light, but a deliberately placed “biological switch” that helps us drift into sleep more easily and thereby conserve energy for longer. Our organism, designed to be in harmony with this rhythm, naturally tends to rest during winter nights in order to conserve body heat and restore strength. Science confirms this tendency in humans and the living world, confirming that the entire system - from the planet’s rotation to our metabolism - is designed as a home that cares for our survival.

This is not a coincidence or the result of chaotic evolution where man’s oldest ancestor was a single-celled organism. It is proof that the world was designed as a home. Just as you have light switches and climate control systems in a house, the entire cosmos is designed to support the human rhythm.

The Law of the Third: In biblical symbolism, the number three and its derivatives often signify completeness and divine order. It is fascinating to notice that during the solstice (the extremes of summer and winter), light and darkness are divided precisely by the principle of “one-third to two-thirds.”

The Equinox as perfect balance: When the spring or autumn equinox arrives, we have a perfect division of 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. This is not a coincidence, but a reflection of the structure the Creator embedded into the very rotation of the Earth.
